On Tuesday, a federal appeals court ruled that the US government can indefinitely detain anyone under the National Defense Authorization Act. This comes as a blow to the ruling that was given earlier this year, when US District Court Judge Catherine Forrest ruled that the NDAA was unconstitutional. So what does this mean for journalists and why was it overturned? Carl Mayer, attorney for The Mayer Law Group, joins us with the latest.

TSA is introducing the new full body scanner system to the American airports. The scanners will be capable of detecting every tiny trace of any substance of your body to find gunpowder or any bomb making materials. However the devices can also trace the level of adrenaline in the body. RT's Kristine Frazao has more on the subject.

When did we give away our power? When did we decide to drink the kool-aid and be lulled into a false sense of security? When did we lose our backbones, become arthropods, and begin happily feasting on the manure presented by the powers that be?
We have become a population of uninformed automatons. We get in our cars, go to work, get in our cars and come home. We are locked in a mechanical life that makes the Matrix look like the dance of the sugar plum fairies.

We talk about football and The Housewives of wherever like it really makes a difference. We idolize the latest electronic gadgets like they are our life source. We gorge ourselves on the latest trends like cattle being prepared for slaughter.

If something hurts a little, we reach for the magic pill that has more side effects than remedy. We obviously enjoy making the pharmaceutical companies wealthy and powerful. We gripe and moan about the cost of healthcare, but we just keep paying.

We allow a political system that is corrupt and broken to continue to rape and pillage our lives. We contribute money so that ridiculous campaigns can spew lies of promises never kept. We actually believe that those in government care about our countries. We are easily distracted from truth by the divisive dramas used to divert our attention.

We send our loved ones to provide muscle and die for multi-national corporations. We wave flags to welcome them home if they are lucky to return alive. If they are not so lucky, we drape their coffins with the colors of the gangs that killed them. We are led around like livestock, by our noses, believing that the fight is for freedom.
Freedom? The irony is that all we need freedom from are the ones pushing the notion that we are not free. When will we wake up? If we want to thank the military personnel for their service perhaps we should stop beating the war drums and bring them home, alive, to their families.

Where did we lose our way? When did we lose our ability to question authority and demand straight answers? In today's society, people are quaking in their boots, hoping they get to keep their cars and houses just one more month. Is that the life we really want?
The ruling elite are a small percentage of this earth's population and we have given them our power. We have given away our souls for more television channels, cheaper useless products, and the empty promise of a better future. Will we continue to be deceived or are we ready to wake up and take our power back? The choice is yours. The time to decide has come.
